I have been a children's clothing and accessories sales rep carrying better, contemporary lines in the New York metropolitan area since 1989. I cover New York, Connecticut and the Mid-Atlantic states. My associate (and twin sister) Nancy Markert covers Manhattan, New Jersey, and Pennsylania. For a few of our lines, our territory includes the entire coast.  Although I am mostly on the road, I also work out of a showroom at 34 W. 33rd Street in New York  by appointment. I am lucky to have been both on the buying end and the selling end of the wholesale/retail business, giving me a complete understanding of how businesses operate. Before my career in the children's industry, I worked for Merona Sport as a merchandise manager in the men's division. I worked in conjunction with the design department and sales to develop the line each season. After my first daughter, Melissa, was born, I worked for Merona Sport as a consultant for the kids division. My repping career began when my sister, Nancy needed help at the trade shows.   It was only natural to join in. I started repping when my youngest daughter, Chelsey, was a toddler.  Nancy and I now carry the same lines in adjoining territories. Being on the road is where I am mostly found- but I also enjoy working out of our showroom at 34 W. 33rd Street. Being on the road I am able to see what each store is all about and able to direct my customers to select the best merchandise for their type of store. In addition, from being in the stores, I can see where there is a void and fill my stores in with basics that they need and might otherwise forget about. I have also developed such a great relationship with many of my stores and have been known to give a helping hand when they get busy!
